Realistic Timeline for Postpartum Recovery

No matter how you gave birth, the first six weeks postpartum are considered the recovery period.

If you’ve had a vaginal birth, recovery can take three weeks or more, if you didn’t tear. If you suffered a perineal tear or had an episiotomy, healing can take up to six weeks or longer.
